Lopez has been an active consumer and tech angel, with most of her best-documented bets made jointly with former fiancé Alex Rodriguez. She invests personally rather than through a named fund, and separately founded the JLo Beauty brand.

Lopez spent two decades licensing her name before she decided she wanted to own things. Her fragrance Glow by JLo was on track to $2 billion in sales and she has said she made 0.01% of it, a grievance she now cites as the reason she founded JLo Beauty in 2021 and the Delola cocktail brand in 2023 rather than fronting someone else's. Her outside investing runs through consumer, wellness and fintech, and most of the well-documented deals — Hims & Hers, Super Coffee, Acorns, NRG Esports, Archer Aviation, Sarva, TruFusion — were made between 2017 and 2020 alongside then-fiancé Alex Rodriguez, with individual stake sizes never broken out and no public account of how the joint holdings were split after their 2021 breakup. She runs no named fund; Limitless Labs, often listed as an investment vehicle, is a philanthropic initiative partnering with Goldman Sachs' 10,000 Small Businesses and Grameen America. The record includes a real loss: NuvoTV, where she was a minority owner and chief creative officer, bought Fuse for $226 million in 2014, and the combined Fuse Media filed for Chapter 11 five years later carrying about $240 million of debt. Several deals widely repeated as Lopez investments, including Goli Nutrition and BodyArmor, are documented only as paid marketing partnerships.
I'm thinking to myself, Wait a minute. I didn't make but 0.01% of that.
But once you realize that you are the person with the ideas and the talent and the drive to do it — then it's about valuing yourself. This has been a journey for me. You've got to say, 'Wait a minute. You're fortunate to invest in what I'm doing here.'
We've been told as artists, especially as women, that we're disposable, and that's not the truth. What I've realized is that, no, there's only one me, there's only one that person and that person, and what they have to offer is uniquely different than everybody else.
I had been approached to do vodkas and tequilas for years and years and I always kind of refused.
